Starting a new business or product and joining the vendor community can be both exciting and nerve wracking. Here are some quick tips that will help you get started and will save you time and money.

Get Event Rules & Space Information

Once you commit to becoming a vendor, gather the correct information from the venue and find out some basic important details: booth space size, booth set-up time, event hours, etc. A typical size booth space is about 10 ft. x 10 ft. The most popular size tent is also conveniently 10 ft. x 10 ft. Most venues require you to have a certified CPAI-84 fire tag on the tent itself. This is crucial, or you’ll run the risk of the fire marshal writing you a citation or even worst, forcing you to take down the tent. Additionally, find out what colors are allowed. The most common color is white, but verify with the venue if you can display a custom-printed tent. Doing so will truly maximize your brand exposure.

Pick the Right Table

Purchase a standard, foldable 6 ft. table at Costco or Target. They are inexpensive and durable. Envision the layout of the space and how the booth will be set-up. This will save you A LOT of time prior to your event. We recommend you add a custom-printed table throw or table cover that features your logo. Display Your Products

Display your products neatly and in an organized fashion. Nobody likes a cluttered mess. Remember perception is everything, so if you’re booth is messy and difficult to figure out, this will certainly deter customers from seeing the potential in your product. It’s also a good idea to offer small, branded promotional items such as keychains, or notepads. Especially if it has your contact and product information on it.

Create an Experience!

Create an experience and be welcoming! Simply put, don’t sit for too long. Spend most of your time standing. Customers walking past your booth are often hesitant to approach you if you’re sitting down or if you avoid making eye contact. Smile, engage the customer, and show some energy. This alone will make a huge difference in floor traffic!
